God's Generosity
You go before me and follow me.
You place your hand of blessing on my head.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
Too great for me to understand!
I can never escape from Your Spirit.
I can never get away from your presence!
(Psalm 139:5-7 NLT)
I don't have a story or experience to share with you today, but instead ask you to consider God’s generosity in an unassuming area in your life. Recently, God’s Spirit has been reminding me of His generous presence. I am deeply moved and in awe, just as David expressed in Psalm 139:6: “such knowledge is too wonderful for me.”
Examine your own life and find God’s generous spirit hiding in plain sight. You might even be experiencing His generosity right now! Have you ever thought about His presence, and how it blesses you in small ways? I sense He constantly waits for us to turn toward Him and grasp just how close He is in the mundane—the surprises, our fears and difficulties, and in every joy we encounter.
There may be times when you don’t feel He is near, but scripture tells us otherwise! Here are just a few of my favorite reminders.
1) Isaiah 41:10
“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you,
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
2) Deuteronomy 31:8
“It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”
3) Joshua 1:9
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
4) Romans 8:38–39
For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord
5) John 15:4–5
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.
Would you pray this with me?
Dear Father,
Thank You for always being near to us and the reminder you have given me of how YOU are a generous God! I pray for the one reading this today, would you give them an awakening or deeper realization of Your presence in their lives. If we abide in You, by our salvation then You proclaim nothing can separate us from Your great and extravagant love. Amen”
